Statement from Tom A. Bernstein, Co-Founder and Chairman of the International Freedom Center
The Board and staff of the International Freedom Center welcome the opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Solidarity. Led by the courage and vision of President Lech Walesa, Solidarity remains a beacon of hope for all freedom loving people.
President Franklin Roosevelt said: “In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.” Solidarity’s non-violent and creative struggle reminds us all that freedom does not come easily. It must be protected and promoted to ensure open societies with rights for all.
Telling freedom's story – today the inspiring Solidarity story – is the mission and aspiration of the International Freedom Center. We are honored to be a part of this celebration.
