Center Announces first Development Executive
Fund-raising will be a key task for the International Freedom Center in the months and years ahead, and the Center has just named its first development executive.
Erica Goudy joined the Center on May 2 as Vice President, Development from Community Counselling Service (CCS), where her responsibilities included work on the Center's fund-raising planning and feasibility study. CCS will continue to act as the International Freedom Center's outside fund-raising consultants, a role CCS also plays for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.
Goudy will work closely with Center co-founder, chairman and CEO Tom Bernstein and Center president Richard Tofel. Bernstein was recently named to the Board of the Memorial Foundation, and co-chairman of its development committee.
Goudy brings to the Center experience at CCS as lead consultant for the $750 million capital campaign at the Weill College of Medicine at Cornell University and work also on the $1 billion campaign for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Prior to joining CCS she worked for a public relations firm in San Francisco. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
Commenting on Goudy's appointment, Bernstein said, "Erica Goudy is a fund-raising executive of great energy and determination. She has already made a great contribution to the International Freedom Center through her excellent work for us as part of the strong team at CCS, and we're delighted she's joining our staff full-time."
Goudy responded, "The World Trade Center site is among the most significant places in the world today. Helping the International Freedom Center construct a "narrative of hope" on this site is both a signal honor and a daunting challenge. I look forward to helping secure the resources to make the Center a reality."
Robert Kissane, president of CCS said, "We at CCS have been proud to be associated with the International Freedom Center for nearly three years now. Erica is a terrific young professional, knows the Center intimately from its inception, and will advance its efforts with great skill and commitment."
